crazy animal collage

I’m a Snigraffkeyow. I’m made up of a snake, pig, giraffe, monkey and cow. I can only be found in the forests of New Zealand. I am nocturnal and only come out at night to look for food. I am a man eater carnivore.

I stand at a whopping 30 feet tall, I am 5 feet wide and there is only one of my kind. I dig out places to sleep in the bush and I can quickly disappear underground if I sense trouble.

I have supersonic hearing and I can run as fast as a leopard. This makes me impossible to catch...Hunters have attempted to hunt me but have failed.

Sewing

Today in sewing we were making masks. We spent 9 weeks in sewing and it was the year 8's last time. We were building on our sewing skills and we had a range of different ways of making the masks. We had to use the whip stitch which goes over and over. We also got to use the sewing machine. A huge thanks to Anne for teaching us skills we can use later on in our lives and also all the different stitches. As well as teaching us how to use the machine's we are now safe to use public transport.

Music creation

In the past week we have been on soundtrap. If you would like to visit the website click here.Everyone selected a picture to make music for. I was just trying to figure out the tools. I did what you would hear in a shearing shed. It's like an uplifting beat. I found it challenging to get my music onto my slide because it wouldn't upload into my drive. Here is the final product.

Zoo Debate

For the past week we have been writing persuasive pieces of writing we did Why Zoos are cruel and should be banned. We wrote it to convince our audience why it should and shouldn't be banned. I choose why it shouldn't be banned. I hope you agree.

I strongly disagree that Zoos are cruel and should be banned.

To start with Zoos try their absolute hardest to  give animals their exact diet. As well as their  habitat planting trees, putting climbing rocks in and water to swim in as well as drink. They also put vitamins in the food to try and expand their life span.

In fact,I believe they’re being saved because being in the wild elephants get hunted for their tusks because of their ivory for piano keys and other daily things. Even tigers for their skin and fur. Now you may be thinking what about monkey’s and yes the poor primates, trees getting cleared and grasslands drying up.

Even though they’re getting fed human treats that is bad their still getting fed proper foods and getting health care so even if they were in the wild they would get better care and you will still be thinking they only get sick in Zoos but… NO! They also can get life threatening illnesses.

So in conclusion they should without a doubt stay open because the endangered animals will go extinct. So therefore Zoos need to stay open.

Fabric fun

Fabric
Today in Sewing we had to cut out fabrics for beanies, to keep our heads warm on camp. For camp we are going skiing at Mount Ruapeha. So we had to cut out bright polar fleece so we had 3 colours green, orange and pink so we can get seen.  The polar fleece is so Mrs Bennett and Mr Knight know's it's our class. We had to cut out the thick material for the inside. It was hard to cut because some of the scissors were blunt.

Print making

Today with Mrs Allan I have done two of four prints.
We are making pop art, we are inspired by Andy Warhol.
He is most famous for using basic items.
He uses multiple colours to complete his artworks.
The challenge was trying to not slip and cut myself.
I enjoyed actually inking the lino and putting onto the card.
I would like to thank Mrs Allan for this amazing experience.
Here is one of the finished product.
