crazy animal collage

I’m a Snigraffkeyow. I’m made up of a snake, pig, giraffe, monkey and cow. I can only be found in the forests of New Zealand. I am nocturnal and only come out at night to look for food. I am a man eater carnivore.

I stand at a whopping 30 feet tall, I am 5 feet wide and there is only one of my kind. I dig out places to sleep in the bush and I can quickly disappear underground if I sense trouble.

I have supersonic hearing and I can run as fast as a leopard. This makes me impossible to catch...Hunters have attempted to hunt me but have failed.

Sewing

Today in sewing we were making masks. We spent 9 weeks in sewing and it was the year 8's last time. We were building on our sewing skills and we had a range of different ways of making the masks. We had to use the whip stitch which goes over and over. We also got to use the sewing machine. A huge thanks to Anne for teaching us skills we can use later on in our lives and also all the different stitches. As well as teaching us how to use the machine's we are now safe to use public transport.

Music creation

In the past week we have been on soundtrap. If you would like to visit the website click here.Everyone selected a picture to make music for. I was just trying to figure out the tools. I did what you would hear in a shearing shed. It's like an uplifting beat. I found it challenging to get my music onto my slide because it wouldn't upload into my drive. Here is the final product.

Zoo Debate

For the past week we have been writing persuasive pieces of writing we did Why Zoos are cruel and should be banned. We wrote it to convince our audience why it should and shouldn't be banned. I choose why it shouldn't be banned. I hope you agree.

I strongly disagree that Zoos are cruel and should be banned.

To start with Zoos try their absolute hardest to  give animals their exact diet. As well as their  habitat planting trees, putting climbing rocks in and water to swim in as well as drink. They also put vitamins in the food to try and expand their life span.

In fact,I believe they’re being saved because being in the wild elephants get hunted for their tusks because of their ivory for piano keys and other daily things. Even tigers for their skin and fur. Now you may be thinking what about monkey’s and yes the poor primates, trees getting cleared and grasslands drying up.

Even though they’re getting fed human treats that is bad their still getting fed proper foods and getting health care so even if they were in the wild they would get better care and you will still be thinking they only get sick in Zoos but… NO! They also can get life threatening illnesses.

So in conclusion they should without a doubt stay open because the endangered animals will go extinct. So therefore Zoos need to stay open.

Fabric fun

Fabric
Today in Sewing we had to cut out fabrics for beanies, to keep our heads warm on camp. For camp we are going skiing at Mount Ruapeha. So we had to cut out bright polar fleece so we had 3 colours green, orange and pink so we can get seen.  The polar fleece is so Mrs Bennett and Mr Knight know's it's our class. We had to cut out the thick material for the inside. It was hard to cut because some of the scissors were blunt.

Print making

Today with Mrs Allan I have done two of four prints.
We are making pop art, we are inspired by Andy Warhol.
He is most famous for using basic items.
He uses multiple colours to complete his artworks.
The challenge was trying to not slip and cut myself.
I enjoyed actually inking the lino and putting onto the card.
I would like to thank Mrs Allan for this amazing experience.
Here is one of the finished product.

Creating music

Listen to my music here
Today we were learning how to use some websites that Mrs Torrie showed us.
I enjoyed finding a cool beat.
The hardest part was trying to find the right beat for the right person.
We were also learning how to record different websites this website was easy because it already had a recording button.
Have you ever tried to make music and download it?

Print making

Today we had Mrs Allan and we were doing print making. I am almost up to painting it and putting it onto paper. I have enjoyed using the cutters and the challenges of not cutting your self. Also being confident to cut the lino. I am doing a Leaf portrait because it is autumn and I thought that a leaf would be a cool picture. I will take a picture when I am finished.

Andy Warhol

Today we had Mrs Allan. We learnt about Andy Warhol. He is a pop artist, his art stands out because he use bold and bright colours. His most famous artwork was the soup cans.
We selected a Autumn photo that we either took from the lock down or one off the internet.
We sketched over the photo to get our hand drawn piece.
This is how far I've got but next time we will put our creations on the lino.

Mrs Allan

Today we had Mrs Allan who comes every Thursday and last year we were doing geometry and this year we are doing more fun stuff. Today we were given the task of making a time table of doing what ever we wanted with tasks we had to fit in dur the three blocks, but we had to read for 40 minutes and wrote about running and questions for 40 minutes and do maths for 20 minutes on print making and some other tasks in between. I started with Maths which was hard it was about. Next I did reading which was easy we did silent reading. After morning tea I did writing which was reasonably easy. Once I finished I did my genius moment and I have only just come up with it. In the afternoon I did reading online and posted my blog.

Gate making during Lock down.

During this time being stuck at home I made some gates. The Gates are made out of Rails we got from Wrightsons. I made them with My step Dad first so I got a idea of the measurements. It was challenging because when I did it if you got one wrong Measurement they weren't quite stable. Here is one of them.

column chart

Today I was learning how to use google sheets.

I enjoyed customizing my graph because I liked choosing the colours for the lines.

I can see that Hayley did 99 more posts than me over the holidays.

My digital learning object shows I am able to use google sheets and make a graph.

Next time I would prefer to do who likes certain foods.

Pepeha

Today we were learning how to map our pepeha on tour builder. We had our cybersmart teacher today helping us during that time. It was a challenge but fun finding places on the map.
Next time I might add a couple more places and some talking.

Ice cream

In tech the year 8's had a challenge of creating a new ice cream flavor. After making it we designed a poster on 'poster my wall' where there are so many different templates. The Year 8's had to learn how to use poster my wall. It was challenging trying to download my poster but I finally got there. It was a challenge coming up with a flavor but we eventually came up with an amazing one. There were 3 different flavors- Liana and I created peach and cinnamon with a hint of marshmallow.
